New Hire

Congratulations!

Welcome to Spirit Airlines’ Inflight Team!

It all began with the submission of a job application and a dream of becoming a Flight Attendant! You each were hand selected after hours of interviewing to be aviation's NEWEST first responders! You were chosen because you demonstrated that you possess our core values of being Savvy, Stylish, Service and Safety-orientated! This is something to celebrate and be proud of!

On behalf of Spirit Airlines AFA-CWA’s New Hire Team, we are thrilled that you have chosen to join our team here at Spirit Airlines and Spirit Airlines Association of Flight Attendants! You couldn’t have chosen a better time to join our team with our rapid growth going on in recruitment efforts, new cities (both domestic and international), and new airplanes, which make us on of the youngest fleets in the industry! We couldn’t be more excited to welcome you to “The Hive” to watch you all soar to new heights in your new career!

Whether this is your first airline, or your fifth airline, we want to make sure you know you have a team of dedicated representatives to help you get settled into your new home and role as a Flight Attendant. You may think “Oh, I have done this already, I know what I’m doing” and this may very well be the case! However, one thing is for sure in this industry and that is it is constantly changing!

This is where we come in! We are well-versed, and a little bit of a resident expert in all areas in our current contract, constantly working with management on ever-evolving policies and procedures and flying the line right along side of you and in the rare event we don’t know the answer, we know someone who does! The New Hire page is designed to be a “one-stop-shop” but we know this can’t be true, so use these resources the best you can and always feel free to email your designated New Hire Representative or New Hire Team.

Approved vs. Recommended Applications

APPROVED:

The company has a set list of approved applications that they use for communicating information to the workgroup. These applications are specifically approved for use from the company by employees and accepted as proof of burden when you encounter any kind of violation while at work and submit screenshots or feedback via the AFA Support Center.

NOT APPROVED:

Although the Flight Attendant group has some pretty savvy ways of keeping up-to-date, sharing information, accessing schedules, etc., the company does not accept screenshots from most applications that you may use labeled as “NOT APPROVED Application.” Below you will find a section containing ONLY Spirit approved applications and then a separate section of just helpful applications you can use that have been recommended by your fellow Flight Attendants.

FAQs

How do I get a Known Crew Member (KCM) card?

You will need to see a base supervisor at the airport to secure a Known Crew Member card. You may email an Inflight Supervisor at the respective base email found in Content on your FA EFB.

Once you have a KCM card, go to mykcmsupport.com and follow the directions on the website to get set up. If you encounter errors, the union CANNOT solve them. They must be directed to your base leadership.

When does my probationary period end?

Per Section 6: Seniority & Probation in the collective bargaining agreement, "flight attendants shall be on probation for the first 180 days of active service."(6.H)

Active Service is defined by the union and the company as the start date the flight attendant is released to line (RTL). Your release to line date can be found in an email sent to you from your Local Executive Council New Hire Team. If you have questions, please reach out to your respective new hire team.

When do my four days off begin so I can relocate to base?

Your four days off begin the day AFTER you complete your OE.

An example would be if I did my OE on 8/20, my four days off would begin 8/21 through 8/24 and I should be ready to begin work (pending being released to line) on 8/25.
